New languages on Speak, just in time for the summer

June 17, 2025

Today we officially launch four new languages for English speakers to accompany our recent Spanish release: French, Japanese, Korean, and Italian, with many more on the way.

With summer in full swing, we’re seeing a rise in both language learning and travel. 77% of Americans agree that learning a language creates a more authentic travel experience with more than half seeing language learning as part of their identity as travelers.

We can all relate to a similar experience, memorizing a few phrases before a trip, only to freeze upon arriving in a new country without the confidence to speak what you’ve been practicing.

Each language course on Speak is built to help you navigate real-life situations, rather than memorizing vocab & grammar. You’ll learn useful phrases like introducing yourself, chatting with friends, ordering food, or asking for help while traveling, just as a native speaker would. You wouldn’t expect to learn how to swim without getting in the water, why learn to speak without having real conversations?

Speak started by teaching English in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Our speaking-first approach proved so effective, it played a key role in making us one of the fastest-growing education apps in Asia. We’re excited to bring that same method to every language we offer.

We are so passionate about changing language learning to be speaking-first that we’re kicking off a 21-day speaking challenge, starting today.

From June 17 - July 15, if you join the challenge in-app, achieve a 21-day streak, follow us on Instagram and share & tag us in a video about your language learning experience, you’ll be entered to win two round-trip tickets to practice the language you’re learning in real life.

Whether you’re a beginner or getting back into the habit, Speak is here to help you build confidence through consistent, real-world speaking practice with our AI tutor.

We’re hard at work with more languages coming later this summer, and with more than 15 million learners around the world, you’re in great company.

Ready to get talking? Join the 21 day challenge today.
